THE FIRST THREE CHAPTERS

Style and readability: Are the opening chapters of your book appropriate to the market for which you are writing? Does it all make sense to a reader? Does it intrigue? Does a reader want to read more? 

Plot development: Are you setting up a compelling story? Do we want to know more? 

Character development: Have you introduced your main character? Do we have a stake in learning more about his or her journey?

THE full submission

A full submission consists of a cover letter, a synopsis, and a market analysis as well as the first three chapters of your novel. We can give you advice on:

First impressions: Is your package up-to-date, attractive, and appropriate to your market?

Cover letter content and style: Do you tell too much, too little, or just enough? Do you convince us that you are the right person to tell this story?

Synopsis: Does your synopsis tell the plot in a way that an outsider reader will follow? Do you give the right amount of atmosphere or a dry blow-by-blow?

SAMPLE ADVICE
Use a standard font like Times New Roman.  If you love playing with fonts, why not create a cover page for your first three chapters instead of setting your entire novel in Comic Sans MS?
